"You made our holiday celebration magical!"

"With heartfelt thanks and gratitude, the gifts and your thoughtfulness brightened our spirits and made our holidays brighter!"

"You will never know what this means to me and my children."

These are just a few of the responses Oakland Family Services receives every year from the families who participate in our Adopt-A-Family program. Without your past support, more than 450 families facing financial difficulties in Oakland County would not have been able to provide holiday gifts for their children.

With the holiday season around the corner, families in need are reaching out for your continued support of the Oakland Family Services Adopt-A-Family program. This is your opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of the many disadvantaged children and families living in your community.

To provide a family with a holiday to remember, follow these three easy steps:

  1. Call or email Valerie Mercadante at Oakland Family Services, (248) 858-7766 ext. 1218, or You also may complete our online Donor Contact Form and select the size(s) of the family you wish to "adopt."

  2. Oakland Family Services will match you with a family. The family's wish list will include family first names, age, gender, and a few suggestions of items needed/desired. We will mail, fax or email you the family's wish list, a tax deduction form, and a map to the drop off location.

  3. Please purchase new items, wrap them and mark them with the first name and the family code, which is located at the top of the wish list. Gifts should be delivered either Monday, Dec. 5 or Tuesday, Dec. 6 to Oakland Family Services, 114 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers will be on site to assist you with your packages.

Cash contributions are greatly appreciated and used to provide for children that have been removed from their families by the courts and placed in foster care prior to Christmas.
