Thanks to your support on #GivingTuesday, Oakland Family Services and Day One will be able to help more people in need of mental health and substance use disorder counseling whose insurance may not cover, or who cannot afford, the full cost of therapy sessions. Though final tallies are still coming in, at least $2,000 has been raised!

Held every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, driven by the energy of social media. It is considered the kick off the charitable giving season. Through #GivingTuesday, Oakland Family Services and Day One worked to bring awareness to the community about the need for treatment for issues like opioid misuse, depression, anxiety and the effects of trauma.

As the rate of suicide and opioid misuse increases, we need financial support to make sure we can help everyone who needs us. When individuals struggle it can affect the entire family, so your support will go to help more than just the person in need of services. It will help his or her parents, spouse or children as well.

Because of YOU, more of our clients can now afford therapy sessions. #GivingTuesday would not have been a success without all the support of our social media network. If you still are interested in supporting this effort, donations can be made via our Facebook page or on online.
