Oakland Family Services President & CEO Jaimie Clayton discusses operations during a pandemic on Civic Center TV
Check out our President & CEO Jaimie Clayton's interview on Civic Center TV! She gives an excellent overview of the services we offer, the challenges our clients are facing, and how our programs pivoted to online services during the coronavirus pandemic. Clayton also discusses how Day One clients are benefiting from virtual therapy and how a grant from Ballmer Group will help the agency provide critical mental health services during the pandemic and into the future.
“You don’t have to have a major mental health diagnosis to seek help,” Clayton said during the interview. “Just being stressed is enough, especially under these circumstances. We try really hard to work against this stigma that you are mentally ill to get behavioral health counseling.
“We are offering and scheduling times for people when it works for them the most, ensuring we have a wide swath of availability. Our therapists are all working remotely, which takes those regional boundaries down. Therapists have typically worked at different locations, and that doesn’t matter anymore. We can increase our availability because our therapists can now serve anybody, anywhere.”
