Pledging your support: Help Oakland Family Services inspire change and empower people through Building a Brighter Future Campaign

The COVID-19 crisis has made support of our vital health and safety net services even more critical as people struggle with isolation from friends and family while we battle against an invisible enemy. And now, more than ever, Oakland Family Services needs your financial support so we can ensure our services are readily available to families during this turbulent time.

Because of health and safety concerns, Oakland Family Services had to make the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel our Building a Brighter Future Breakfast — our only fundraiser of the year — which was scheduled for April 28. The support we receive at the breakfast is always critical in helping us build brighter futures all year long.

By making a contribution to Oakland Family Services, you can make a difference in the lives of those who need us the most in the community. The overwhelming nature of our national situation, coupled with isolation, can exacerbate already diagnosed mental health conditions for those who have them, and plunge others into depression and anxiety for which they have no help.

While families are stuck at home together during COVID-19, abuse and neglect could increase, leaving even more children vulnerable and in need of safe homes, and more moms and dads in need of parenting assistance. While this is occurring, parents still need help to engage and educate their children to make sure they are developing on track. Also, the tenuous nature of the financial situation for many of the families we serve means they are even more at a disadvantage and facing huge hardships right now.

Oakland Family Services is reaching out virtually to individuals right now, offering them not only the programs we always have, but also assistance, reassurance, support, and care. For some, we are offering a lifeline.
