Volunteers prep natural playground at the Children's Learning Center in Walled Lake
When preschoolers return to the Children’s Learning Center in Walled Lake this fall, they will find the natural playground in tip-top shape.
Thanks to the Michigan State University Broad Executive MBA Alumni Association, the playground is ready for the kiddos to enjoy. Volunteers and their family members gathered at the playground Aug. 1 to spread mulch. This is the fourth consecutive year the group has done volunteer work at Oakland Family Services.
“We love the work that Oakland Family Services does and are proud to support the education programs the agency has for children in need,” said Kendra Corman, a board member of the alumni association. “Personally, I believe that giving back to our community is very important, and I love helping out Oakland Family Services because of the staff’s dedication to their jobs. It is more than a job to them. It is a mission, and they make you want to be a part of making a difference.”
Natural playgrounds at our Children’s Learning Centers provide needed unstructured play time that encourages kids to use their imagination and creativity while strengthening their growing muscles.
“We are so grateful for all of the time and effort members of the MSU Broad Executive MBA Alumni Association spent helping us with our 'spring' cleanup by spreading mulch and maintaining our natural playground, which provides a natural, safe and enriching environment for our children to learn and grow,” said Angela Liegghio, Early Childhood Education program coordinator.
