Our nonprofit agency has served the community since 1921 and is a leader in child- and family-focused services. We touch the lives of more than 40,000 individuals each year and have offices in Pontiac, Berkley and Walled Lake. Our service offerings include mental health and substance use disorder treatment, preschool and child care programs, early childhood parenting assistance, foster care and adoption services and more.

Oakland Family Services prides itself on its excellent workplace culture and has been named a Michigan Top Workplace for seven years running. Last year, our agency was named among the very first National Top Workplaces, which means our employees have great things to say about working here. We offer an engaging workplace culture, excellent benefits, competitive pay, flexible work schedules, opportunities for advancement, work-life balance initiatives and more.

We currently have openings for a wide range of education and experience levels, with some positions open to those with a high school diploma or GED and others requiring master’s level education. Applicants to all positions can expect a layered interview process that evaluates their skills and engages them to determine the best fit for the agency and for the candidate.

Areas of need

Oakland Family Services is hiring for several openings in each of our behavioral health programs, Specialized Services for Youth and Day One. We are particularly excited to fill positions in Day One’s MISSION program, which serves adults transitioning out of Michigan Department of Corrections facilities who experience substance use disorders or mental health conditions.

"To provide the best mental health services to those we serve, Oakland Family Services is looking for talented, professional mental health providers who are aligned with our mission and vision and model our well-defined and practiced cultural values,” said Director of Human Resources Kristy Eisenberg. “We seek out candidates who have a strong appreciation and sensitivity to the diversity of our agency's service population and staff, such as differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic character/representation and more. We look for candidates who demonstrate a warm, compassionate commitment to provide our clients (individuals and families) the very best opportunities to build brighter futures."

Oakland Family Services is also offering leadership opportunities for early childhood educators, including supervisory roles at our Children’s Learning Centers in Pontiac and Walled Lake.

"Not only is Oakland Family Services committed to providing the best quality preschool experience to prepare the children we serve for a brighter future and help them become ready to enter kindergarten, we are also committed to providing providing brighter futures for our staff with opportunities for professional advancement,” Eisenberg said. “Our staff is our agency's greatest asset and we strive to invest in their professional development with opportunities for continuing education training and career growth. It is such a compliment to Oakland Family Services when staff begin their career in our Early Childhood Services programs and continue to grow with us on their professional career path.”
