Save the date: Oakland Family Services to host online Building a Brighter Future Campaign

For the second year in a row, because of health and safety concerns, Oakland Family Services had to make the difficult decision to hold an online Building a Brighter Future Campaign in place of our annual breakfast, our main fundraiser of the year. We are disappointed not to be together with all of you, especially as we are in the midst of celebrating Oakland Family Services’ 100th anniversary!

The support we receive at the Building a Brighter Future Breakfast is always critical to helping our programs run all year long. The pandemic has brought with it many challenges for the people we serve that make our programs even more vital. Mental health issues, child abuse and neglect, and financial strain are all on the rise, and many families are in desperate need of support services such as counseling, parenting assistance and education, and access to safe, affordable preschool and child care. Through the pandemic, Oakland Family Services has remained steadfast in our commitment to providing assistance, reassurance, support and care to children, families and individuals who need it.

Over the last 100 years, we have constantly adapted our prevention, education and treatment programs to meet changing needs of the southeast Michigan community, and the changes we have made over the past year have been monumental. Since last March, most of our services have been provided online. We continue to connect with families and individuals to provide not only the programs we always have, but also assistance, reassurance, support and care. For some, we are offering a lifeline.

But to continue this work and to reach even more people who need assistance, we need your help. Your support will ensure vital health and safety net services are readily available to families at this turbulent time.

Our 2021 Building a Brighter Future Campaign will be running April 19-May 14. Follow Oakland Family Services on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter to join in. While we will be posting special content throughout the entire campaign, we are most excited for Tuesday, May 4, when we will be sharing a special video of a person served in our Day One program and another celebrating our 100th anniversary. Please share our content with your networks to help our campaign gain momentum!

Last year’s Building a Brighter Future Campaign raised a total of $175,184 through online and mail-in donations and pledges, which was vital in ensuring individuals and families received the assistance they needed. This year, the campaign’s goal is $185,000.

Support from donors has helped keep Oakland Family Services going strong for the last 100 years, and we want to be around for 100 more. By making a donation to Oakland Family Services, you will not only be supporting a 100-year legacy of building brighter futures, but you will also be directly impacting your community, perhaps even your friends and neighbors.
